Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) is the parent company of the awardwinning
attractions - Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong BirdPark. WRS
strives to be a world class leisure attraction, providing excellent exhibits of
animals (and birds) presented in their natural environment, for the purpose of
conservation, education and recreation. WRS parks have been conferred the
Best Leisure Attraction Experience Award at the Singapore Tourism Awards for
15 times. The record achievement affirms WRS parks' status as Singapore's
premier leisure venues.

The incumbent is responsible for management of Zoology, Veterinary,
Conservation and Education departments. Provides direction on animal/bird
related matters, including animal/bird husbandry, nutrition, animal health and
education of school groups and members of the public. Leads research and
foster partnerships that achieve an increased knowledge of animal/bird behaviors
and care.
Responsiblities:
- Develop strategies, provide direction and set operating objectives for
veterinary care, conservation and research projects participation
- Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Zoology and Avian
departments
- Continuously introduce improvements to animal/bird husbandry, enclosures
and in the design of new enclosures
- Spearhead efforts by the department in making significant contributions to
wildlife research and conservation of endangered species
- Assist other departments especially PR and Marketing with animal/bird
related activities
- Work closely with the Veterinary, Maintenance and Horticulture Departments
for the overall improvements of animal/bird health and exhibit presentation
- Ensure that the veterinary facilities and resources are kept abreast of
advances in the field of veterinary science
- Ensure that the strategic plans to support the mission of the Learning Zoo are
met through exciting outreach programme to schools and members of the
public
Requirements:
- At least a Degree in Zoology or Animal Related Science or Veterinary Degree
- At least 12 years working in Wildlife Park/Sanctuary or Zoo/Aquarium
- Have superior natural history and animal husbandry skills
- Knowledge of animal nutrition, computerised animal record keeping abilities
- Knowledge of animal behavior assessment techniques
- Have enrichment capabilities, staff training and advancement skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively - both
verbal and written, across a broad age range ability to work well and motivate
people, writing scientific reports
