  4. The government is encouraging us to have more children so why is there a restriction on the number of children for family memberships?

The family membership tier which allows for 2 adults and up to 3 children is based on the size of the average Singaporean family. We adhere to these guidelines to ensure fair practice to all our members.

Inclusion of additional children is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please submit your written request to membership@zoo.com.sg for necessary review and processing. These children must be below 12 years old and must be directly related to the main member.

No, according to international age guidelines any person above the age of 12 is considered an adult. We follow these guidelines as do other industries such as airlines, cruise operators and transportation companies.

Admission of the domestic helper or grandparents is based on the following guidelines:
    • Family with 1 child: admission of 2 grandparents or 1 domestic helper + 1 grandparent
    • Family with 2 children: admission of 1 grandparent or 1 domestic helper
    • Family with 3 children: admission of 1 grandparent or 1 domestic helper (applicable only when 1 parent is unable to accompany the family during their visit)

  8. If the domestic helper or grandparent is allowed free admission to the zoo as a gesture of goodwill, why can I not bring guests in?

Our memberships are not transferable and admission of one grandparent or domestic helper is allowed in place of one absent parent or child only. The management reserves the right to deny entry to the domestic helper should there not be a valid work permit.

This is not an entitlement but rather a gesture of goodwill intended for members who need assistance looking after young children.

We would like to offer free tram rides to our members during weekends but this is not possible because there are very few trams available in the Singapore Zoo and we are unable to cope with the demand. Purchasing additional trams is neither an option as our grounds cannot accommodate additional vehicular traffic. Nominal fees we charge for the tram ride is used to maintain the tram service.
