Born to father Growie and mother Roni on 31 August 2015, this baby boy is the first giraffe born in Singapore Zoo in 28 years!

  • Our baby giraffe was 1.9m tall at birth. In 2 months, it has grown to 2.2m tall! It continues to grow rapidly in the first year of its life. At full grown, an adult giraffe can reach over 6m tall.

  • Baby giraffes stay in their mummy‚Äôs tummy for up to 15 months!

  • Giraffes give birth standing up. The calf drops from a height of 1.8 metres.

  • Newborn giraffes are taller than most adult humans. At birth, they are 1.8 to 2 metres tall.

20 Sep Calf approached keepers but kept a distance. Keepers noticed calf consuming some leaves
21 Sep Calf grew to 1.97m
26 Sep Calf seen eating leaves
3 Oct Calf is very active and is observed suckling and consuming some fodder
7 Oct Calf has started to eat leaves and alfalfa hay
14 Oct Roni and calf were mixed with Growie (dad) and Lucy. Calf got excited and started running around when Growie approached. Calf later calmed down, and was groomed by Dad
16 Oct Grew to 2.2m
23 Oct Calf seen eating solid food (pellets, vegetables and carrots) in the afternoon
29 Oct Introduced to their Wild Africa exhibit for the first time
