The only great cat found in the plains of America, the jaguar ranks first for strength and size. With highly developed teeth and jaws, its bite is just as deadly as that of the tiger. Unlike other cats that usually knock their prey down first before sinking their canines to kill, the jaguar is so powerful that it can bite straight through and crack open a cow's skull like a nut, crushing the brain within.
The leopard and jaguar share many similarities – both are alike in coloration, coat pattern and strength. Physically, jaguars are more heavily built. However, one can identify a jaguar by the extra spot or spots within the centre of each rosette. Both black leopards and black jaguars are equally common in the wild.
